This Week’s Takeaways

LAST UPDATED: January 12th, 2021

The second week of January saw a persistent decline in CPMs, with the overall figure a further -15.4% lower than the week previous (which saw a drop of -16.7%). Notably, gaming apps see the consistently largest drop each week, at around -20% per week. The trend isn’t likely to continue— CPIs have reversed their previous week’s decline, which suggests CPMs could follow suit.

In the New Year, supply rose as people the world over unwrapped new mobile devices for Christmas (and, of course, the multitude of holidays that spanned the end of the year). As a result, both CPI (-7.2%) and CPM (-16.7%) plummeted. The most extreme figure was in North America, with a -28.9% drop in CPMs in the last week of December. The region saw the biggest increase in supply since the MAPT began, with 16.1% more bid requests.
