Liftoff Employee Spotlight: Jongrim Angela Kim, Senior Sales Manager in Korea

By Rebekah Wong | March 15, 2021

Jongrim Angela Kim is Liftoff’s first Sales employee, who joined when we opened the Seoul office in 2019. As a treasured member of the APAC team, Angela constantly brings positivity and energy into every room, virtual or in-person. At Liftoff, Angela proactively goes above and beyond for clients. Angela also has a strong creative knack, putting her resourcefulness to drawing and singing on the weekends!

Tell us a little about yourself and how you ended up at Liftoff?

My ex-colleague at Hyperconnect strongly praised Liftoff as a great partner. Then and now, Liftoff was always known for transparency, scalability, and performance. When my clients began to show interest in DSPs, Liftoff naturally came back onto my radar. I heard about Liftoff’s first office opening in Korea and immediately applied. I was eager to stretch and challenge myself in my career path, and I am so glad I took this step every day!

What inspires you to succeed every day?

Professionally, I get to work with intelligent colleagues every day. The work environment is dynamic and very open, providing regular opportunities for employees to share new ideas. Here there are many chances to connect, ask questions and offer different perspectives, learnings, resources, and best practices across various accounts and regions.

On a personal level, I enjoy reading books—both fiction and nonfiction—during the weekend. Reading expands my knowledge and provides clarity, sometimes allowing me to ‘reset’ for the week. I also enjoy gaming…I have a competitive streak and enjoy beating other players!

What are some key traits that help you be successful in your role?

To be successful in sales, you must be proactive, actively communicate, and have a positive attitude.

How has Liftoff helped you in your career development?

I challenge myself every day and try a lot of new things. Some of my favorite and most memorable career moments I’ve experienced at Liftoff:

  • My colleague June Choi and I opened Liftoff’s Korea office together and welcomed various colleagues who visited.
  • Held a launch party to host potential clients—alongside Shiraz Kabir, Liftoff’s Head of APAC Sales, and Phil Gontier, our VP of International.
  • Being a part of the hiring process for new team members.
  • Established long-term relationships with new clients.
  • Help build Liftoff’s brand in Korea.
  • Assist in building the Mobile Heroes community in Korea with professional app marketers across the region. This allowed me to interact with a broader group of industry leaders and better understand and support our clients.

I am most thankful to our Country Manager, Kota Amano, for guiding me on this journey from the very start.

What can new members joining the Korea team expect?

Any potential new member in Korea should expect to be part of a fast-paced business that grows quickly, where we work hard and play even harder!

Can you share what personal habits help you be the best version of yourself?

I make it a point to wake up and shower early in the morning—a habit that gives me the chance to reflect on work and daily life.

I also like to find the good in the little things, express gratitude, share positive encouragement and praise those around me (not just colleagues but also customers, friends, and family). I love how even small praises can go a long way in making someone’s day much better.

What’s your favorite quote?

“현재를 사랑하고, 사소한 순간에 감사하기.” In English, it means to “Live and love the present and appreciate the small moments.”
