Mobile Heroes Program Expands into Germany
Liftoff selects the country’s top mobile marketers for its Mobile Heroes German Edition
Liftoff has launched its Mobile Heroes program in Germany. Mobile Heroes, which originally launched in the US in 2015, highlights the marketing experts or “Heroes” behind the world’s biggest mobile apps. This September, the program will be highlighting some of the top mobile marketers across Germany.
The Mobile Heroes German Edition will highlight top tips and marketing shortcuts from marketing experts at leading companies such as online marketplace Vinted, ecommerce giant Otto, leading music app Soundcloud and top nutrition app YAZIO. In addition to offering practical advice on mobile creative strategy, A/B testing and driving results in a privacy-centric market, they also draw from first-hand knowledge of building successful apps in Germany to draw valuable comparisons between markets and regions. These audience insights are crucial as competition for users in the German market heats up.
Mobile app advertising is a booming industry in Germany, with research firm eMarketer forecasting that mobile will account for nearly 70% ( 69.2%) of total digital ad spend in Germany, or €6.57 billion ($7.49 billion) in 2021. This massive growth shows no slowing down despite some homegrown challenges. Germany’s privacy regulations are among some of the strictest in the world, and Germans are particularly protective of their data. A survey by Harvard Business Review found that 80% of Germans are reluctant to share their information with businesses to maintain their privacy. Germany also has a reputation for being slow to digitize.
Bastian Winterkemper, Regional Lead, DACH at Liftoff adds: “The German mobile app market has really grown over the last couple of years. There are a lot of new and exciting apps emerging on the scene. However, navigating the German app market is still a challenge faced by many app marketers. By launching the Mobile Heroes German Edition, not only are we showcasing the marketers that are doing a great job, but also building a community of mobile marketing experts that can share their experience and learn from each other”.
Liftoff originally launched the Mobile Heroes program to support and provide valuable resources to marketers of non-gaming apps. Mobile Heroes has since grown into a global community of marketing thought leaders representing all app categories, sharing their knowledge to advance the mobile marketing industry. The Mobile Heroes program connects marketers, through meetups, Mobile Heroes Lunch Clubs, live events, and the Mobile Heroes Slack community, which has over 2600 members.
Dennis Mink, SVP, Marketing at Liftoff comments: “The Mobile Heroes program was launched to promote knowledge sharing and fill a gap in the marketplace. At the time, there were a hundred conferences about mobile games, and only a handful for non-gaming marketers. We wanted to fill that gap by creating content by the people who knew the most about it. Fast-forward six years, our community has grown to over 100 Mobile Heroes across 17 verticals, spanning over 20 countries”.
