Liftoff Employee Spotlight: Olga Shipunova, Customer Success Manager in London
Olga Shipunova joined Liftoff’s CS London team as the first new hire in 2021. Since then, she has become a core part of the team. In her spare time, Olga is a fashionista who enjoys putting together and sporting amazing outfits. She also creates one-of-a-kind t-shirts that she sells online! During the pandemic, Olga became pen pals with a mystery neighbor using her rescue cat—Billy—as the messenger. What a highlight during these strange times.
Tell us a little about yourself and how you ended up at Liftoff?
I stumbled into adtech a few years ago when I came across a job listing. From that moment onward, I discovered the world of ads within mobile games. I had no idea it was such a vast and fun industry!
I love the people, atmosphere, innovation, relevance—everyone in the world uses apps and games—and the technological advances you get to be involved with. Liftoff was a natural fit. So when my former colleague Judy Connolly, Marketing Manager in London, told me about this role, I was sold.
What inspires you to succeed every day?
I am excited about learning new things, exchanging knowledge, and meeting lots of new faces. Having the opportunity to do these things daily at Liftoff and working with bright, driven colleagues is very rewarding. It motivates me to do my best every day.
What are some key traits that help you be successful in your role?
Be patient, well-organized, and pay attention to detail. Although these three traits play an essential role, they are not be-all-end-all. It is also helpful to be personable and enjoy speaking with clients, which is a big part of what we do on the CS team.
What can new members joining the London team expect?
A lot (but in the most organized way possible.) You will be up and running before you have time to stop and worry. Most importantly, expect a wonderful group of people eager to share their knowledge, provide any help needed, and are always up for socializing after work!
Can you share what personal habits help you be the best version of yourself?
I start by prioritizing tasks and planning accordingly to make sure I complete what is most important for the day. A helpful tip is focusing on one task and waiting before you check new messages—whether that is Skype, Slack, or anything in your personal life. On a day-to-day basis, I block out time in my calendar to catch up with friends, try new experiences, or visit family.
What’s your favorite quote?
“Good thing, bad thing, who knows.” It’s a piece of Eastern wisdom meaning to reserve judgment and remain in the present moment to avoid stress and worry. It tells the story of a farmer who experienced a lot of unfortunate events. But despite what happened, he never knew if it was a good or bad fortune until quite some time had passed. Like him, we never know whether something will turn out positive or negative. Only until a decent amount of time has passed will we be able to see all the after-effects—good or bad.
