A Liftoff Gives Tradition
We have many traditions here at Liftoff; some may fade, but the important ones stick around. I’m thankful that one of these traditions is a part of our Liftoff Gives program supporting internal volunteering and giving back. For several years, we have hosted a food drive at our HQ office and volunteered with the Second Harvest Food Bank during the holiday season.

For the last four years, we have prioritized giving back to our local community and memorialized this practice a few years ago with our Liftoff Gives initiative. We value giving back during the holidays to those less fortunate than us by providing employees with various opportunities to donate to local causes. Not only do we plan events around giving back and volunteering, but these experiences have become an invaluable way we spend time and engage with one another. Our annual traditions include hosting a food drive at our office and volunteering at a local food bank – both in partnership with Second Harvest. One in four people in Silicon Valley are at risk of hunger, and Second Harvest provides assistance to these folks.
Employees often get together and purchase much needed food items to donate to the food drive. At the food bank, we sort food by expiration dates, sort and label canned foods and weigh bags of fruits and vegetables, all while working together and having fun, light hearted conversations and bonding. This month our shift sorted 5750 pounds of food for those less fortunate!
I am thankful to work at a company that directly supports giving back and provides us with opportunities to do so. The cherry on top is being able to use this time to get to know my colleagues better and share meaningful experiences with them.
