Employee Spotlight Nichole O'Such

Women at Liftoff: Nichole O’Such, Senior Account Executive

By Nadia Alaee | March 24, 2020

This March, we are celebrating Women’s History Month across all the Liftoff offices around the world and highlighting some of the amazing women that work here in a series of blog interviews. In this interview, get to know our Senior Account Executive, Nichole O’Such.

What Motivates you?

I am motivated by connecting with people. My career as an account executive is based on connecting and building trust with my clients, and there is nothing I would rather be doing. An invaluable motivator in my everyday life is knowing that I sell a product that helps my clients excel in their career, that our conference call could be the best part of their day or that when I make a recommendation my client listens because they trust me.

What woman inspires you, and why?

My mother is the most inspiring person I have ever met. She is smart, witty, and can turn any situation into a positive one. Over the years, she has accomplished countless things, among them is raising three kids on her own, living abroad, and most recently starting her own interior design business. The lessons and stories from these achievements have taught me many things about business, culture, and how to be a good person.

Lesson #1 – You can never ask too many questions.
Lesson #2 – Nothing beats hard work.
Lesson #3 – Choose the harder right over the easier wrong.

If you could meet any woman, alive or deceased, who would you meet and why?

I would want to meet Sheryl Sandberg. She is an accomplished businesswoman, author, and mother. She and her husband also started the Sheryl Sandberg and David Goldberg Family Foundation to help women in leadership achieve their ambitions and help families build resilience in times of adversity. Her book came out when I was just getting started in my professional career, so I learned quite a few lessons that guided my actions and experiences in the workplace early on. A quote from Sheryl Sandberg that resonates with me is – “Success is making the best choices we can…and accepting them.”

Fun fact about you that few people know?

I grew up in Iowa City, Iowa, and the street my grandparent’s farm is on is named after our family – Peters Avenue.

If you weren’t in the mobile industry, what would you be doing?

I would be in sales at a SaaS company or in venture capital.

What is one thing you wish you knew 10 years ago?

You are never going to be fully ready for anything, so when an opportunity presents itself: say yes, be prepared and go into it wholeheartedly.

Can you share some self-care habits that help you be the best version of yourself?

Rest, drink water, and workout. It’s that simple. I try to get 8 hours of sleep every night. Whether that means skipping a morning workout or turning down an event, I find it necessary to start each day on the right foot. I also try to start every day with a green juice, it’s alkalizing and resets the body before a long workday.

Finally, I’m a huge believer in Sunday prep. Taking a couple of hours on Sunday morning, either at home or at a coffee shop to prepare for the week, can alleviate many of the “Sunday scaries” that people often talk about.

What is the #1 resource you recommend to women?

Having a good support system, whether that be a good group of friends or family you can always turn to. It’s not something you can pick up at the store or find on your walk home from work, but if you put yourself out there and make yourself vulnerable to those who matter, you will find you receive the same in return. Having a solid group of friends and family has helped me through career changes, relationships, moving across the country, and countless challenges over the years.
